Write them on Your Heart

Updated: Mar 6, 2020

BIBLE PASSAGES

Exodus 25:1 – 27:19

 1 Kings 5:12-6:13

Hebrews 8:1-13

The time for a new heart has come. Our hearts of stone replaced for a heart of flesh. The Word of God reveals this major theme for our benefit, not God’s.

An obedient response, like Moses and Solomon, is what we should be experiencing in today’s society. When they know who God is, man’s heart is moved, through obedience and compassion.  Following the instructions of the Lord, so that they could be in a relationship with Him. What would our world look like, if we had the heart, the people of God had 3000 years ago?

The ultimate sacrifice has been provided, and the way for us to be in a relationship is always available. The covenant is that He would put His laws into our minds, and write them on our hearts.  He would be our God, and we shall be His people. When the Lord declares something will happen, there is nothing any human or principality can do to stop it.

Individuals are coming with hearts of flesh instead of stone. People today are still talking about what the Lord declared over 2,000 years ago.

We can now experience Him relationally all the time, as His children, and co-heirs. We are grafted into the covenant that God made with the people of Israel.  We can experience the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for Me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats' hair, tanned rams' skins, goatskins, acacia wood, oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breast piece. And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.’” - Exodus 25:1-9

“Now the word of the Lord came to Solomon, “Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in My statutes and obey My rules and keep all My commandments and walk in them, then I will establish My word with you, which I spoke to David your father. And I will dwell among the children of Israel and will not forsake My people Israel.” - 1 Kings 6:11-13

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” - Hebrews 8:10-12

Questions for Reflection:

▪ Am I resistant to the covenant that God has made with Israel?

▪ How do I understand God’s laws being written upon my heart?

▪ How am I assured that God knows me and remembers my sins no more?

▪ Do I find myself looking to God to dwell in my midst? Have I received Him into my life?

▪ Am I willing to live life exactly as God has created me to live it or do I desire to live my life in my own understanding?
