Today, we are celebrating Simchat Torah (Joyful Torah). During this holiday there is much joy and dancing as the Hebrew nation around the world rerolls the Torah scroll. They have special services reading the last portion of Deuteronomy 34:1-12 and the first portion of Genesis 1. There is no regular work done on this day. This is a time of family, fun, and joy.
God's plan from the beginning according to Matthew 22:36-40 is to Love God with everything you have.
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” - Matthew 22:36-40
Have you ever wondered about this time of celebration and thought about pulling it through for us to see another fulfillment of our relationship with the Father. The Father sent us Yeshua in John chapter 1. The concept that the WORD became flesh allows us to dance with the WORD. What a fantastic opportunity to be like a light flickering in the darkness.
The indwelling of the Word (Torah, Bible) inside of each one of us as reflecting lights to the world. Sometimes we lose sight of this mystery that God not only dwells with us (Emmanuel) but is in us (Ruach HaKodesh Holy Spirit). Our Father is so pleased to see this union take place and develop over time.
Yeshua said in Matthew 5 that YOU are the light to the world. During this time of Rejoicing do we see ourselves as lights to the world? What if the community of Faith had more of a focus on the LIVING WORD throughout the year instead of just once a year?
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." - John 1:1-5
The progressive revelation of our Journey with God continues and we are unable to exhaust the depths of the Father's understanding. There is always more to learn.
We are finishing the reading cycle for another year and this is a wonderful time of celebration. I pray that you continue to discover on your journey the words of Genesis through Revelation being written on your hearts. May you see yourselves as living epistles read of all men.
