BIBLE PASSAGES

Genesis 41:1-44:171

Kings 3:15-4:1

Acts 7:9-16

Luke 4:16-30

What is God doing in your life that will prepare you for His promotion? Our walk with God is not one-sided and requires us to truly be active participants in life with God. People put their hearts into many things, but when it comes to the Creator of the universe and His relationship with us, we seem to be half-hearted about our desires and applications.

Promotions come because of a desire, love, and overt concern for the goals and ideals of a particular company, organization, etc.

How concerned are we about the matters of the kingdom of God? The most important commands given by God, in the Bible, are to love God with everything we have and love your neighbor as yourself.  Love your neighbor as yourself is mentioned eight times in Leviticus, Matthew (twice), Mark, Luke, Romans, Galatians, and James.

Joseph reminds us of someone who truly puts his best foot forward. He doesn’t hold back from Pharaoh because he is a Hebrew or for any reason. Joseph makes lemonade out of lemons.  Joseph understood what it meant to Love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.

“And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. And he made him ride in his second chariot. And they called out before him, “Bow the knee!” Thus he set him over all the land of Egypt.”Genesis 41:38-43

“When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.”1 Kings 3:28

“These patriarchs were jealous of their brother Joseph, and they sold him to be a slave in Egypt. But God was with him and rescued him from all his troubles. And God gave him favor before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. God also gave Joseph unusual wisdom, so that Pharaoh appointed him governor over all of Egypt and put him in charge of the palace.”Acts 7:9-10

Questions for Reflection:

▪ Like Joseph, am I willing to step up when God needs me?

▪ Do I shrink back in the ways of God in my life that I don’t understand?

▪ Am I ready to Love God as much as Joseph did?

▪ Am I being used by God through his wisdom for rendering justice?
