BIBLE PASSAGES
Leviticus 9:1-11:47
2 Samuel 6:1-7:17
Mark 7:1-23
In Leviticus this week we read a lot about offerings and the dialogue between Moses and Aaron towards the end of the reading. What stood out to me was the fact that Aaron raised his hands towards the people and blessed them. I find that to be refreshing seeing the people of God receiving a blessing.
2 Samuel 6 -7 is a beautiful picture of how God showed Himself to David and ensured that the Messiah would come from the line of David and that God would build Himself a house. Today, we are so privileged to have the amazing opportunity to be the home of God. We are vessels that carry the presence of God throughout the earth today.
The book of Mark hits the nail on the head and should cause us to wake up. Jesus said, “For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.” WOW! Most of the community of faith today who are a part of the institutional system have substituted their own traditions and have neglected to worship God in spirit and in truth. Our relationship with God must be directed by the WORD alone. I would challenge all of us today to open our hearts and hands and cry out to the Spirit to break off these traditions of men that have taken the place of our intimacy with Him.
Questions for Reflection:
▪ Do I believe I am the home of God?
▪ What are the things in my heart that are of God?
▪ Do I believe and worship traditions of men?
▪ Is my heart far from God?
