BIBLE PASSAGES
Leviticus 21:1-24:23
Ezekiel 44:15-31
Colossians 2:11-23
This week’s Torah reading takes us to the feast times that God put in place. These feasts directed the times and seasons of the people of God created for worship and thankfulness for all that God had done for them.
We read in the prophets, the chosen people of God (Israel) went astray from how God created them. Only the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok were faithful. God was angered by the people’s abandonment of their relationship with Him for idols that had no substance or value. They forgot to be THANKFUL for all that God had done for them. They walked away from their amazing deliverer, conquerer, and creator. Wow... Ouch... Can you imagine how you would feel if you gave all that you had in a loving relationship and then they just walked away?
Colossians 2:11-23 brings greater insight. Christ is the head and if we are doing things out of man-made traditions or rules, they may seem wise but with a closer examination, we find they are unable to overcome our fleshy desires. God wants our hearts to be yielded too Him. With Jesus as the head, we can obtain a radical mind shift to cultivating this eternal love relationship.
Questions for Reflection:
▪ Have I trusted the mighty power of God?
▪ Do I see the shadows of the reality yet to come through the feasts?
▪ Do I feel compelled to continue following the rules of the world?
▪ Do I realize I have been set free from the spiritual powers of this world?
