Our High Priest - I Will Bring Israel Back

BIBLE PASSAGES

  1. Leviticus 16:1-20:27

  2. Isaiah 53:1-12, Amos 9:7-15

  3. Acts 15:1-21, Hebrews 7:23-10:25

In Isaiah 53 we see this beautiful picture of our high priest who was slain from the very foundation of the world. Isaiah opens the chapter with the following quote, “Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed His powerful arm?” Isaiah 53, must be read through the lens of someone who believes in the powerful arm of the Lord.

Hebrews 10 gives us the direction of living life, in light of the Messiah’s return to earth. “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” I find it encouraging to know that God will keep his promise ever since He engaged people and entered into a covenant relationship with them.

In 1948 Israel's independence was made known to a global audience.  Amos said the following, “They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. How providential we would read these words about how God would bring the people back to the land.

We find Peter discussing the need for the inclusion of the Gentiles into the grace of the Lord Jesus in Acts 15:1 – 21. Peter clearly showed us that, “God knows people’s hearts, and He confirmed that He accepts the nations giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us. He made no distinction between us and the root of the faith, He cleansed their hearts through faith.”

We are included in the family of God through the Holy Spirit which is our seal. The cleansing we all seek comes from the heart through faith just like when God visited Abraham and he believed.

Questions for Reflection:

▪ Do I believe in the new covenant with the Commonwealth of Israel?

▪ Am I able to encourage others in their faith?

▪ Do I believe I can go right into the presence of God fully trusting in Him?

▪ Can I trust God as the day of His return is drawing near?

▪ Do I believe the truth of the words of God through the prophet Amos?

▪ How do Peter’s words impact my thoughts about my faith?

▪ Am I thankful for the undeserved grace that I have received?
