Counted and Not Forgotten

BIBLE PASSAGES

  1. Numbers 1:1-4:20

  2. Hosea 2:1-22

  3. Revelation 7:1-17

This week we start the book of Numbers. Our reading opens with the numbering of the people of God. At first glance, you may just want to read quickly through this section. I believe we should take special notice of the people and their numbers. Also, the importance of how God places them around the tabernacle strategically. God knows which tribes belong on which side of the tabernacle facing North, South, East, and West. We begin to see the diversity of God’s family in the tribes of Israel. Each of these tribes has their banner in their camp.

Hosea opens with troubling words from God. His relationship with the people has been broken by Israel’s idolatrous lifestyle and carefree manner towards God. God’s discipline is swift and strong. Then we read about the future and what we can expect between God and His covenanted people Israel.

In Revelation 7:9-10 we read, “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, and they were shouting ‘Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!’”

This will be an exciting revelatory moment in time to see this crowd of all the nations praising God and then the response from the angels. “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

This week as you read these portions of the Word, take time to think about the future that lies ahead. We cannot alter the revelatory Word coming to pass. He is on the throne and blessed be HIS NAME.

Questions for Reflection:

▪ Since I have been selected by God in what ways do I praise him?

▪ Do I see the divine order of God’s blueprint and placement of people in the Kingdom?

▪ Can I picture the King over all the earth sitting on the throne forever?

▪ Do I desire for God to reveal my placement in relationship to Himself and the Kingdom?

▪ Do I see myself as part of the Bride?
