The Fruit of Goodness
Goodness is the nutritious, flavorful, or beneficial part of something or the quality or state of being good. ; A person of such unaffected goodness that his friends were inspired to lead better lives.
Our celebration continues with the fruit of goodness. There is a phrase used among believers that goes like this, "God is good". The response from the other person is, "All the time".
Our Father is infinitely good all the time. It is in His very nature.
"Yeshua said to him, “Why are you calling me good? No one is good but God!" - Luke 18:19
Jesus directs our thoughts to a more inclusive understanding in the Father and His goodness. Jesus was very clear of pointing us to the Father. The Lord's prayer directs us to pray to our Father. Jesus mentions in another passage that He only does what His Father directs.
The examples Jesus gave us are reminders that our Father is good.
The following verses in Genesis chapter one, make clear that God's good idea was land, Earth, seas, grass, plants, seeds, trees, seed-bearing fruit, day, night, light, darkness, wild beast, livestock, animal, crawling animals, male and female.
At the end of this creative process, He called it good and male and female very good.
"God called the dry land Earth, the gathering together of the water he called Seas, and God saw that it was good." - Genesis 1:10
"The earth brought forth grass, plants each yielding its own kind of seed, and trees each producing its own kind of seed-bearing fruit; and God saw that it was good." - Genesis 1:12
"to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good." - Genesis 1:18
"God made each kind of wild beast, each kind of livestock and every kind of animal that crawls along the ground; and God saw that it was good." - Genesis 1:25
"So God created humankind in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them." - Genesis 1:28
"God saw everything that he had made, and indeed it was very good. So there was evening, and there was morning, a sixth day." - Genesis 1:31
Do you see yourself as very good and redeemed?
The Spirit is living in you and restoring you daily to goodness. Everything that happens in your life, is working together towards His goodness in your life.
"Furthermore, we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called in accordance with his purpose;" - Romans 8:28
May God's goodness in us, inspire others to lead better lives.
Happy Chanukah,
Todd
