BIBLE PASSAGES
Numbers 8:1-12:16
Zechariah 2:13-4:7
Hebrews 4:1-16
This week we take the time to acknowledge that we can have great comfort because we know in whom we believe. “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” – Hebrews 4:14-16
In Zechariah 4:6 we read, “Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of heaven’s armies.” Our job is to understand that it is by the Spirit alone that we are led and filled daily to make His presence know throughout the world.
Finally, we learn what God has said about HIS REST. God’s promise of entering His rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter His rest. As for the others, God said, ‘In my anger I took an oath: They will never enter My place of rest” even though this rest has been ready since He made the world. We know it is ready because it mentions the seventh day:
“On the seventh day God rested from all His work.”. But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” - Hebrews 4:1-5
Questions for Reflection:
▪ Who am I resting in?
▪ How do I define rest?
▪ Do I believe I am doing the work in my own might or power?
▪ Do you believe the Spirit is at work in your life?
▪ Do you understand how much God loves people to worship Him relationally?
