Write Them on Your Heart:

The time for a new heart has come. The time to have our hearts of stone replaced for a heart of flesh is at hand. Throughout the Word of God this is the major theme repeated for our benefit-not God’s. Our ability to stray from the ways of God is second nature to the flesh.

The people and their obedient response to both Moses and Solomon is what we should be experiencing in today’s society. There should be more than enough to go around because man’s heart is moved. The reason why man’s heart was moved with such obedience and compassion is because they knew who their God was. They were following the instructions of the Lord so that they could be in relationship with Him. Consider what our world would look like if we had the heart that the people of God had over 3000 years ago?

God has made the ultimate sacrifice and provided the way for us to be in constant relationship with Him like husband and wife. God assures us that in the progressive understanding of His covenant with people (both past and present) that He would put His laws into our minds, and write them on our hearts; and He would be our God, and we shall be His people. When the Lord declares something it will happen and there is nothing that any human or principality can do to stop it.

Many today are coming with hearts of flesh now instead of stone. Out of what seems to be the “clear blue sky”, they are talking about what the Lord declared over 2,000 years ago. We serve a great God. The possibility is now available for us to experience Him relationally all the time as His children and co-heirs. We find ourselves in this covenant that God made with the people of Israel, because we have been included. All were invited in through the death, burial, and resurrection of the Yeshua and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for Me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats’ hair, tanned rams’ skins, goatskins, acacia wood, oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breast piece. And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.’” – Exodus 25:1-9

“Now the word of the Lord came to Solomon, “Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in My statutes and obey My rules and keep all My commandments and walk in them, then I will establish My word with you, which I spoke to David your father. And I will dwell among the children of Israel and will not forsake My people Israel.” – 1 Kings 6:11-13

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” – Hebrews 8:10-12

Questions for Reflection:

▪ Am I resistant to the covenant that God has made with Israel?

▪ How do I understand God’s laws being written upon my heart?

▪ How am I assured that God knows me and remembers my sins no more?

▪ Do I find myself looking to God to dwell in my midst? Have I received Him into my life?

▪ Am I willing to live life exactly as God has created me to live it or do I desire to live my life in my own
